History

In the late 1960’s, the Materials Research Society (MRS) was formed in an effort to bring together people in the materials science field. The society’s core principles are centered around interdisciplinary, focused symposia and fostering a greater interaction among researchers. Today, MRS has over 14,000 members in the ever-expanding field of materials science. This membership includes more than 40 University Chapters, like the University of Connecticut chapter, whose goal is to generate student interest in the field.
